Almond oil on hair: A game changer

As some of you already know, I am obsessed with natural products, and I try to always prefer these over all the harmful chemicals we see in the supermarkets.
A few years ago, I started to look for ways to strengthen my bleached and dyed hair, and I came into almond oil. And it was a revelation. The healing properties of this plant have been known since ancient times. In fact, it’s rich in fatty acids, vitamins, minerals and proteins, and it’s ideal for nourishing, healing, and strengthening hair.

Okay, it sounds amazing, but… How do you actually use it?!
Don’t worry, I’m going to share with you the reicpe I’ve been perfectioning during all these years!

How to use it

First of all, make sure to buy the 100% natural almond oil. We don’t want it mixed with any of the weird chemical stuff.
Take a dropper bottle and fill it with the natural almond oil. Now, I like to put a few rosemary leaves in it and leave it for about a month. In addition to purifying hair, rosemary helps hair grow and improves cellular generation. And, of course, it smells great!

How to use it before shampoo

You can obviously use it as a hair conditioning mask. Apply it as a leave-in treatment before shampoo to moisture your hair, protect from damage and increase hair growth.

For how long should you leave almond oil on hair?

Of course, the more you leave it on, the better! Sometimes I like to apply rosemary almond oil before going to bed and keep it on the whole night. Make sure to wrap your hair in cling film carefully, or everything will become very oily. Ouch.

How to use almond oil after shampoo

Use a few drops of the oil on washed hair. Almond oil can be used on both wet or dry hair however, I prefer to use it on dry hair (after styling) as it seems to help more with the frizziness of my hair after using the hair dryer. The oil will instantly make your hair soft, smooth and shiny. Pay more attention on the ends of your hair, as these are usually more damaged than the rest.
BE CAREFUL! Don’t use too much oil, or your hair will look very greasy!

Does almond oil thicken hair?

Short answer: yes. Almond oil reduces hair thinning thanks to the presence of Biotin; it also works great for scalp psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis.

Can I apply almond oil on hair everyday?

Of course, you can introduce almond oil in your daily routine! You will start seeing the benefits of this wonderful oil after a few weeks.

Is almond oil better than argan oil and olive oil?

I have tried different kinds of oil on my hair, as they are very dry and break easily. I find that almond oil and coconut oil work the best.
Olive oil has a very “greasy” effect on your hair, and for this reason I wouldn’t recommend it. On the other hand, argan oil offers many benefits, such as nourishing and moisturizing, and it’s great if you have a dry scalp. Therefore, it really depends from the kind of hair you have and the desired result.
Almond oil helps your hair in so many ways, I think it’s still a winner.

Does almond oil cause hair loss?

Absolutely not. Thanks to minerals like zinc, calcium and magnesium, almond oil is perfect to prevent hair loss. I’ve seen a huge difference since I started using it. It also works great on the split ends.

What is the difference between sweet almond oil and almond oil?

Sweet almond oil is a carrier oil, while almond oil is an essential oil, meaning that it evaporates. Sweet almond oil is the most commonly used and recommended on hair.

And finally, what are the disadvantages of almond oil on hair?

Besides possible allergies, there are no side effects linked to the usage of almond oil on hair. If you need to heat style your hair, make sure to apply the oil after, to avoid burning them!
