1) The suggestive ancient ruins
Naples is full of ancient ruins, that will allow you to go back in time and explore the life in the city as it was thousands of years ago. Must-see are the ancient Roman ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum, the two cities entirely destroyed by the eruption of the Vesuvius in 79AC. Explore the villages brought to light after centuries of darkness and admire the incredible Roman construction.
Taking a walk on these sites is a unique and suggestive experience which you will not regret!
2) The real soul of Italy
Although Naples is my birthplace, and I might be a little biased, believe me: Naples is Italy’s soul.
The city is not so touristy as Milan, Rome, or Venice; therefore, you can enjoy a truly local experience. Here you can really learn about the traditions of the place, and feel its vibrant and unique culture.
Wander around the historic centre and admiring the Neapolitan traditions is priceless, and you will receive a completely different vibe compared to the other cities crowded with tourists.
Moreover, fewer tourists mean lower prices and you can afford your holiday even if you are low on a budget!
3) The delicious food
The worldwide famous Neapolitan pizza is art. The art of the “pizzaiolo”, the pizza-maker, has been awarded the World Heritage status. And you HAVE TO try it!
Besides pizza, the food in Naples is really delicious: from the typical pasta to the tasty street food, expect to end your holiday with a few kg more!

4) The unforgettable day trips from the city
Visiting the Southern city will give you the chance to take unforgettable day trips to some of the most picturesque and stunning places in the world, like the islands of Capri and Ischia or the worldwide known Amalfi Coast.
If you like hiking, the Amalfi Coast is the perfect destination for you: the incredible “Path of the Gods“, with its breathtaking landscapes, will not leave you unsatisfied.
If you prefer instead to travel in the traditional Italian way (on a Vespa!), you can enjoy the astonishing Coast on the road and stop in the colourful Italian villages!

5) The fabulous castles
Naples and its surroundings offer numerous stunning medieval castles to visit.
In the city centre, you can find the Castel Nuovo, the Castel Sant’Elmo (the highest in the city) and, my favourite, the Castel dell’Ovo, situated on the Lungomare, the seaside. This offers a stunning view of the Gulf of Naples, and it is the perfect romantic spot!
6) The vibrant historic centre
The true heart of Naples is in its historic centre, the largest in Europe. It hosts numerous treasures, and it has been declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO since 1995.
Its streets are filled with art and traditions, and by walking in the small alleys, you can truly lose yourself in the local culture.
