Where to eat THE BEST "bigoli" in Italy
During a recent holiday in the picturesque town of Soave, my boyfriend Kris and I discovered a gem that quickly became the highlight of our trip —Bigoleria Alla Rocca. Now, let me tell you, this place serves some of the best bigoli in Italy. And those of you who have been following us for a while, know that me and Kris are both Italian!
Situated next to the old castle walls, we loved this cosy spot so much that we found ourselves returning the very next day.
If you’re ever in Soave, I highly recommend stopping by for lunch or dinner—it’s definitely worth it.
Walking into Bigoleria Alla Rocca feels like stepping into the past. The restaurant still looks like a typical Italian trattoria with its warm and welcoming atmosphere.
With wooden tables and rustic decor, it’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy a hearty meal, just like an Italian grandma would cook it!
But what is “bigoli”?
Bigoli is a special type of pasta from the Veneto region. It’s thicker and rougher than spaghetti, making it perfect for soaking up delicious sauces.
And at Bigoleria Alla Rocca, they offer over 200 different sauces! From classic duck and sardines to more creative combinations, there’s something for everyone.
We wish we tried them all!
The dishes are not only delicious, but also HUGE – each serving of bigoli is 200 grams of perfectly cooked pasta. But it’s not just about the pasta.
The menu also features tasty cold cuts, cheeses, meat dishes, and homemade desserts. (which YOU MUST try, they are sooo good!).
Our first visit was so amazing that we had to come back for more.
I have to mention the chocolate cake. It was hands down one of the best I’ve ever had — rich, moist, and absolutely delightful.
To top it off, we ended our meal with a glass of pine grappa, which was unique and full of flavour. A must try!

The town is filled with charming streets, historic buildings, and, of course, the impressive medieval castle.
We enjoyed leisurely walks through the cobblestone streets, soaking in the beautiful scenery and the relaxed atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to unwind and experience the slower pace of Italian life.
